National Coming Out Day honors the experience of sharing your gender or sexual identity for the first time with another person. While one may ultimately have countless βcoming outβ conversations in their lifetime, the first time someone shares this part of themselves with another person is often life-changing.
Latinx Heritage Month is a celebration and recognition of the many achievements and contributions of the Latinx community. The term "Latinx" is a gender-inclusive alternative to Latina and Latino that includes nonbinary and non-gender conforming folks in the community.

November is Native American Heritage Month, a time dedicated to celebrating Native Americans and their diverse cultures, histories, and traditions. America is a vast land of many cultures dating back thousands of years to the original inhabitants of the land.
Did you know that one out of every three IVC students is a first-generation college student? First-generation college students are the first to attend, or graduate from, college in their immediate families. Specifically, if your parents or guardians did not attend, or graduate from college, then you are a first gen student.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Awareness Month celebrates the breadth of people that make up our IVC campus community. This is an opportunity to learn about human experiences other than our own, connect in community with one another, and to reexamine the ways we need to grow and change to better support one another.
