Deanna Valdez is a full-time mathematics instructor at 51ÁÔÆæ (IVC), where she teaches courses ranging from precalculus to differential equations and multivariable calculus.
Known for her engaging, student-centered approach, she has implemented a flipped classroom model that emphasizes active learning, collaboration, and immediate feedback.
In addition to her work on campus, Deanna is the creator of Math with Professor V, a widely recognized YouTube channel that supports tens of thousands of students worldwide. Her online lectures extend access to high-quality mathematics instruction beyond the classroom and serve as a valuable resource for both her students and learners across the globe. She recently launched IVC’s first annual high school math contest, an initiative designed to connect local students with the college and promote engagement in STEM. The event’s success has established a strong foundation for continued growth and community impact.
Deanna is passionate about helping students build confidence and persistence in mathematics, particularly those who may not initially see themselves as “math people.â€
She holds a master’s degree in mathematics from the University of California, Irvine, and a master’s degree in mathematics teaching from Concordia University.
Outside the classroom, Deanna enjoys hot yoga, ballet and traveling.
