The Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) Program was established at 51ÁÔÆæ in the Spring 2023 semester. MESA began as a social justice movement in 1970 after a group of concerned educators explored why so few Black, African American, Latina/o/e and Native Americans pursued degrees in engineering. Since its inception, MESA has sought to expand access and achievement in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. For the full history, visit .
The mission of the MESA Program at 51ÁÔÆæ is to ensure equity in access and achievement within our science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) majors. The MESA Program is committed to the success of economically and educationally disadvantaged students in calculus-based STEM fields.
