All students have a right to an informal review and explanation of their grade by the instructor that assigned the grade. If there is a grade that you would like to dispute, the first step is to reach out to the instructor who assigned the grade for an explanation. If your dispute is not resolved by a meeting with the instructor, the next step of the informal review is to reach out to the Department Chair that corresponds to the course the grade was assigned. If your dispute is not resolved by a meeting with the Department Chair, the next step of the informal review is to reach out to the Dean of the instructional area that corresponds with the course the grade was assigned.

If the informal review does not resolve the grade dispute, students have the right to initiate the formal grievance process. The first step to initiating the formal grievance process is to fill out the Statement of Grievance form:

• The form must be completed no later than 45-business days after the end of the term in which the grade was assigned. If a student is still in the process of informal review, but the deadline to submit the form is approaching, the student must submit the form before the deadline while the informal review is still in progress.
• After a Statement of Grievance form is submitted, a committee will review the form and determine whether the Grievance meets the standards for a Grade Grievance based on . After the committee reviews the form a Statement of Grievance Review will be sent to the student who submitted the Statement of Grievance form.

A student must request a grievance hearing with the appropriate dean within 30-days of the Statement of Grievance review using a Request for Grievance Hearing form.
